Breakthrough Philadelphia
Message Agency was approached by Breakthrough Philadelphia in 2010 to serve as a development partner on their grant application for capacity-building support from The Pew Charitable Trusts. They needed to graduate from a site built in HTML, with donations accepted through eTapestry, and Constant Contact as their e-newsletter vendor to a dynamic solution that also supported their summer academic program. They also needed to work within their national affiliate's branding guidelines, adhering to the spirit of the design while somehow setting their lauded program apart.
Message Agency designed and developed a clean and elegant site for Breakthrough, built with sophisticated yet simple-to-use productivity tools for staff, teachers, and students in their summer programs. We not only provided the visual design but also developed the messaging and branding approaches for this exciting educational model.
Key features of the site include:
- Event Registration. Administrators can use the flexible event object for everything from fundraisers to student programs or teacher meetings. Site visitors can easily purchase tickets to fundraisers using the ticketing options that administrators configure directly on the event.
- Teacher and Student Intranets. Administrators use password-protected intranets to communicate important information to summer students and teachers, and teachers themselves post homework assignments, announcements, and other resources for students to support their work in and outside of class.
